Preferred Foods for Red Worms:
  • all types of organic matter (see examples below)
  • aged animal manure (cow or horse is best)
  • vegetable scraps
  • shredded newspaper or cardboard
  • coffee grounds
  • leaves and yard clippings (should be chopped up in fine pieces for quicker decay)
  • egg shells
  • dryer lint and even hair!
Foods to avoid are:
  • meats
  • grease
  • oil
  • citrus
  • cedar or pine trees
  • dairy products of all types
