Some interesting and amazing facts about red wiggler compost worms:
 
They are hermaphroditic and have both male and female organs
They have no eyes or ears
They have 2 to 5 pairs of hearts
They do not catch diseases
They are cold blooded
They breathe through their skin
They lay cocoons (3 - 4 per week) usually 3-6 worms from each cocoon
Cocoons take anywhere from 3 weeks to 5 months to hatch
They can double their population every 2-3 months in an ideal environment
Babies become sexually mature in about two months or so
They are very strong for their size
They have enormous appetites (can eat up to their own body weight daily) - WOW!
They do not age
They are tough and tend to remain in their beds (non migratory)
They are very sensitive to vibrations
They are very sensitive to light
They thrive best in 68 to 80 degree bed temperatures
They are rarely found in the soil, but rather in rotting piles of organic matter
They make excellent fish bait as they can survive underwater for hours and remain active on the hook
They make excellent pet food for various types of pets including reptiles and fish
