Worm castings are nature's best fertilizer and will never burn or harm your plants like non-organic commercial fertilizers. Believe it or not, there are enough nutrients and minerals in a single tablespoon of worm castings to feed a small potted plant for a couple of months.
In addition to enriching the soil, castings are also an excellent source to retain moisture and inhibits root diseases as well.
You can use as much as you like for potted plants but a good standard mix ratio of 4 to 5 parts potting soil to 1 part castings is typically used and your plants will love you for it. If not repotting you can simply sprinkle some worm castings around the base of the plant or lightly mix in the top layer of soil.
For seed germination, 4 to 5 parts sand to 1 part castings is a good mix and will have enough castings to fertilize your young plants for a couple of months.
To condition poor soil, aeriate the soil first by hoe or lawn aerator. Then add a layer approximately one half inch and water in thoroughly to get the nutrients deep into the soil.
For lawns, you can use a spreader or lawn aerator combined with fertilizer spreader.
